At Turbana Corporation, we believe that we produce
the world's best bananas. Why? Because we've never forgotten
where we came from - the independent growers of Colombia's
Urabá region. In the 1960s, those growers came together
to form the Unibán cooperative, which eventually became
Turbana's corporate parent. Turbana started as a small
importer in 1970; now we're one of the top labels in
North America.
Today, Unibán grows, packs, ships and markets more than
30% of the bananas grown in Colombia under the Turbana
label. Unlike our major competitors who buy the bulk
of their bananas then resell them, we obtain 100% of
our fruit from our grower-owned farms.
Turbana has earned a reputation among its customers
for quality, service, and reliability that few enjoy
in this industry. And as we enter the new millennium,
Turbana is the 4th largest importer of bananas and the
first importer of plantains in North America.
