HOUSING AND COMMUNITY INFRASTRUCTURE
Background: Rain used to cause severe damages and be a major source of concern for the people living in the San Marino community. Houses were built with materials of bad quality; therefore they were easily flooded causing sanitary issues for the community.
Project Description: Thanks to Fundaunibán, in 2009 the hydraulic system was improved for draining rain water in the area. A channel was built to control the excess of rain water.
Impact: Now people don't have to worry about how to get the water out of their homes when it rains. This project has benefited around 1,925 families.

"The year before the construction of the canal, the region was suffering from a hard winter; in fact our neighborhood was flooded twice. Thanks to the construction of the rainwater canal our neighborhood has not
been flooded again."
- Teresa Caro, Austria Farm
worker and
beneficiary of this Project
