ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT
Background: A few years ago, about 135 families in Urabá looking for a way to make a living, started making homemade ice cream. Most of these people were single mothers, heads of family.
Project Description: Since 2009 Fundauniban has helped these families by developing a business strategy in order for them to organize and optimize its potential for success. Fundaunibán has provided training and consulting services to these families.
Impact: These families have seen their income increased just like their quality of life. The associates have created a network to support and strengthen the ice cream industry in the region. The association now produces 60,000 popsicles per month for restaurants and schools in the region.

"Now I understand the
importance of team work,
it has brought us a lot of
benefits because we have
become a support for
each other. The
productivity has increased
remarkably."
- José Wilmar Mejía Ramírez, president of the entrepreneur association of Urabá
