ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT
Background: In Urabá, unemployment and the lack of job opportunities were a permanent concern for young people.
Project Description: Since 2006 Fundaunibán has been providing technical, social and economical assistance to six educational institutions where 650 youngsters from low income families receive training as technicians in administration of agricultural companies and are able to develop entrepreneurial skills.

One example is the cultivation of passion fruit, where youngsters learn how to cultivate passion fruit, harvest it and transform it into consumer products such as pulp, nectar, candies, and sauces.

Impact: So far 26 students from these productive schools, based on their excellent academic performance, have been granted a scholarship for higher education. These schools have helped create a sustainable network where these youngsters are committed to learning and transmitting the knowledge to younger students.

"This project has helped me tremendously, it gave me the opportunity to access to higher education and it helped me to acquire more values in my life. The impact that this project generates is massive, besides is well received by the education community. "
