Background: A few years ago in Urabá School non attendance was a big issue, more than half of the population in school age didn't go to school. At the beginning this project was addressed to the children of Uniban's workers that couldn’t go to the school due to the fragile situation of violence that the region was facing at that time. 17 years later, the Institute opened its doors to the community without losing its commitment to a top quality education based on values that prepare the best graduates from the region.

About 200 of these children are part of low income families and receive free education, free food and free transportation as part of Fundauniban’s social commitment to the community.
Impact: For the last 10 years The Unibán Institute has been recognized as the best school in the region where students get well prepared to pursue higher education. Since 2002, school attendance in Urabá has increased up to 75% among kids between 5 and 16 years.

states: between the
human and the academic
we pursue the excellence.
I love my school."
